Stefanos Tsitsipas secured his participation in the third round of the Australian Open. The Greek tennis player easily won a 3-0 set against the Australian, Rinky Hichikata, 6-3, 6-0, 6-2 in a game lasting just 92 minutes.

This was the 5th time in his career that Tsitsipas has managed to qualify for the third round of the tournament, where he will face Talon Grikspoor, the 26-year-old Dutchman (No. 63), who was the winner of the 2nd round clash with his compatriot of Botic van de Chansulp (No. 34), as he prevailed 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 and passed for the first time in his career to the “32” of a Grand Slam.

With today’s victory, Tsitsipas reached six wins in as many games in the season, which proves the good condition it is in.

The service played a decisive role in his match today. He took advantage of it and took the lead in the first set despite his opponent’s intense effort, initially 4-0, he was not troubled when the Australian reduced to 4-2 to reach the victory of the set.

In the second set, the Greek tennis player continued as strong, winning it in 26 minutes of the match. In the third he took a 2-0 lead. Hijikata put an end to Tsitsipas’ streak, tied the set at 2-2, but provoked a new reaction from Tsitsipas who went ahead 5-2 and a little later won this set and the victory.
