Brazilian soccer player Daniel Alves was arrested in Barcelona on Friday (19) after voluntarily reporting to a police station to answer for an alleged sexual assault, Catalonia regional police sources told AFP.
“He is being held” and is being transferred to the courts to make a statement about this alleged sexual assault against a woman in a Barcelona nightclub in late December, said a source from the Mossos d’Esquadra, the Catalan police.
The 39-year-old responded to a police summons and went to the Les Corts police station, located near Barcelona’s Camp Nou stadium, where the athlete played for most of his career, and was subsequently arrested, added the police source. .
On January 2, the Catalan police received a complaint from a woman who said she had been touched by the player. The facts allegedly took place in a Barcelona nightclub on the night of December 30th to 31st.
Alves was on vacation in the city, before returning to Pumas, from Mexico, after playing in the World Cup in Qatar with the Brazilian team, defeated in the quarterfinals.
