Lancashire police in northwest England said it would investigate the incident, in which the British prime minister Rishi Sunak appeared on video inside a moving car without wearing a seat belt.

Mr Sunak posted a video on Instagram on Thursday talking about the investment package to upgrade local communities while touring the north of England.

A Downing Street spokesman admitted the Prime Minister had suffered a “brief lapse of judgement”.

As he added, “the prime minister believes that everyone should wear a seat belt”.

The fine in these cases can be up to 500 pounds.

The local police department said they are aware of the incident and will investigate.

The Labor Party commented that Mr Sunak “doesn’t know his seat belt, his debit card (ss: reference to a previous incident), the trains, the economy, this country”.

The Lib Dems added that Mr Sunak may be another Tory prime minister, but he has the same lack of respect for the rules.

Britain’s prime minister has been fined by police, along with Boris Johnson, as part of the ‘partygate’ scandal, for attending a birthday party for the former Downing Street resident when he was Chancellor of the Exchequer amid pandemic bans.
