The TV heroes Raphael and Aliki from the SKAI drama series “Glycanisos” spoke exclusively to about the climate prevailing during filming, the developments of the project, the theater, but also about human relationships in general
THE Antonis Giannakos and the Billio Marnelisthe TV heroes Raphael and Alice from the SKAI drama series “Anise” they spoke exclusively on about the climate that prevails during the filming, the developments of the project, the theater, but also about human relations in general.
Then see what they told us!
• If you could describe “Anise” in three words, what would they be?
A. Giannakos: Generosity, encounter, diversity.
M. Marnelis: Sea, smells, contradiction.
• How is the atmosphere on the set?
A. Giannakos: We manage to have a good time with each other amid the necessity of quickly executing a shoot. Humane and sweet… And that way we are both more efficient in the schedule and more “together” in everything that happens.
M. Marnelis: The atmosphere on the set is very lively and favorable, both in terms of actors, crew and production. The creative process and concentration is combined with laughter and “lightness”.
• Should we expect twists in the continuation of the plot from your role?
A. Giannakos: Well, I think this is the moment in our history when all the sub-stories of the characters come together in some way and the big fall comes. So, changes for everyone…
M. Marnelis: Certainly facts are coming to light that were not expected based on the profile of Aliki so far.
• Raphael and Aliki are a modern couple, who often emphasize the theme of trust and acceptance of the other, with their good and bad. Do you think people these days are easy or hard to trust in relationships? Also, can there be setbacks in love?
A. Giannakos: A huge withdrawal from your “I”, that’s what love is supposed to be.
M. Marnelis: Trust and acceptance are two terms that concern me a lot on a personal level as well, in friendly, family and love relationships. I think that we do not trust, nor do we accept easily because this process requires space, time and a shift from the Ego to the Other. We are experiencing the era of fast forward when we want everything ready or else we give up and move on to the next one. But we ignore that this is how we shrink, alienate ourselves, as ultimately the magic lies in the discovery and not in the result, in the space that is created, in order to influence and be influenced, defying the dangers and the fear of the unknown that lurks in this path.
Regarding whether there are concessions in love, I believe that they are necessary, in order to evolve the relationship from a game of egos to something deeper and more meaningful, however difficult this may be. It’s a matter of choice, up to what everyone can bear naturally and depending on the phase of life they are in.
• Theatre, Cinema or Television? Which of the three do you prefer and why?
A. Giannakos: They all have the same nuclear function, technically, and how they happen is another story… We want to play.
Maybe the theater, because it gives you more freedoms and responsibilities at the same time, I want it more, but again… We want to play!
M. Marnelis: In the theatre, I really appreciate the rehearsal process, the willingness to experiment, the deepening, the communication and the cohesion required between the actors, that is to say that they all speak the same language. All the senses are present in the here and now and contribute to the mystical and ritual character of a performance. In film and television, on the other hand, I’m fascinated by the more fragmented and unpredictable nature of filming, the fact that the initial sense we have of things can deviate quite a bit from the final result, both aesthetically and acting-wise. Each shot is unique and unrepeatable and depends on many incalculable factors. I perceive a film or a series as a puzzle, a mosaic of images, which is at the discretion of the director to match them in such a way as to produce the plot and the desired atmosphere, inherent to the aesthetic proposition at hand.
• This year many theater performances were staged in Athens. Do you think that in the times we are going through, the world finds a way out in art?
A. Giannakos: Now art is the main outlet. How many series, movies, music helped us pass times, where we had to stay at home. Second year, people getting off the couch to go to the theater are one of the mainstays of this art, and especially at this time when everything is taking place in the worst conditions for people in the arts industry, if you can still call it that. so after our new degree evaluation. They didn’t choose from the “recommended”, which isn’t bad, it’s just easier. They got up and went to the theater. And our tangible appreciation of them was probably, I don’t know, not to produce more “easy” entertainment to be consumed quickly and mentally bloodless.
M. Marnelis: I believe that man’s need for mental and spiritual upliftment is great, as contact with art relieves and releases feelings that many times cannot be expressed explicitly. It acts as an antidote to loneliness and the technocratic perception that fatally prevails nowadays. It goes without saying that the internet, platforms, etc. contributed to the direct contact with art.
• If you had one magical ability, what would it be and why? (eg fly, or be invisible)
A. Giannakos: Patience
M. Marnelis: To be irradiated! To annihilate the distances.
• What plans do you have for the future? Are you preparing anything at the moment?
A. Giannakos: Enough, which I hope will happen.
M. Marnelis: The plans are uncertain, therefore secret!
