-What is important?
-That under certain conditions, two of our five representatives in the new year in Europe will start the qualifying process having guaranteed their participation in the group stage, even in the Conference League!
-Who are they;
-The two triumphants at the end of the season: the Champion (for sure) and the Greek Cup winner under conditions (as long as the winner of this year’s Conference has a direct ticket from his country to the Champions or Europa League groups). If the champion does the double, then the good ticket to the Cup will end up in the third team of this year’s playoffs.
-How is this done?
-Due to the exclusion of the Russian teams, which cannot be revised at least with the current data, the 2023 champion of the 15th Greece will start from the third qualifier of the champions, like Apollon Limassol from Cyprus last year. Quite simply, if it is excluded from the third qualifier, it continues in the Europa playoffs and if it is also excluded from the Europa playoffs, it continues (despite the two inevitable eliminations) in the Conference League groups! From high to low but with European participation in the main menu of the season…
-For the history of the teams claiming this year’s title, only Olympiacos, based on the collective coefficient, can be strong in the third qualifier of champions and playoffs, PAOK marginally in the third qualifier, while Panathinaikos and AEK will be powerless in their own draws.
-As for the Greek Cup winner, it is quite likely that he will start from the Europa playoffs (in the last group of the draw which is not based on a coefficient but with a division into four priority groups) so in the same way if he qualifies he will go to the Europa groups (with much more increased income now) and if it is excluded from the Conference groups.
-Is it possible from there?
-The runner-up of the playoffs will have a ticket for the Champions League qualifiers after two years on the road of the non-champions starting from the second qualifier and will have to do three qualifiers to be in the groups: 2nd, 3rd qualifier and playoffs of. But just one is enough for him to secure a place in a European group! If they are eliminated from the second qualifying round of the non-champions in the Champions League, they will continue in the third qualifying round of Europa and if they are eliminated from there they will have another chance at the Conference play-offs.
