Born in Porto Alegre, Dorval arrived at Santos in 1957. In the 1960s, together with Mengálvio, Coutinho, Pelé and Pepe, he formed the most recited attack in the history of the association.

The player played 612 games with the Santos shirt, the fifth to wear the Alvinegra shirt more often, and scored 194 goals, which placed him as the sixth top scorer in Santos.

During his victorious passage through Vila Belmiro, he won the Libertadores and the Worlds in 1962 and 1963, he was six-time São Paulo champion (1958, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1964 and 1965) and won five Brazilian titles (1961, 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1965 ).

As soon as he arrived at the club, Dorval shared a room with Pelé both in the concentration that was in Vila Belmiro and in Dona Georgina’s pension. The striker said that the relationship with the King was not the easiest.
