Olympiacos cleans Doukla and advances to the semi-finals of the CEV Cup!

Without facing any particular difficulty and with… abbreviated procedures, Mr Olympic won a 3-0 set against Dukla Liberec and took the first step towards qualifying for the semi-finals of the CEV Cup.

Excellent performance by his players Lorenzo Micelli, who played excellently and got a very easy win. Now, the Piraeus team goes to the Czech Republic next Wednesday and needs two sets in order to get the “ticket” for the four best teams of the tournament.

The match

At the beginning of the first set, the two teams were equally competitive, with Olympiakos going on a 3-0 run and reaching 8-5, while also reaching 11-6. Dukla reduced to 15-12, with the red and whites stepping on the… gas from that point, going easily to 22-16 and eventually winning the set with 25-19.

The beginning was exactly the same, but the final development of the second set was different, with Lorenzo Micelli’s players again reaching a 3-0 lead at 8-5, and then they had a party and increased the difference to +9 then they made it 2-0 with 25-13.

The Piraeus team stormed into the third set, playing fantastic volleyball and going up 10-3. The Czech team pressed and cut to 11-8, but from that point on, Olympiacos were determined to finish the game, which they did with characteristic ease, initially going up 21-11, eventually taking the set and the match with 25-15!
