Mitchell: “Hames complained of biceps discomfort – draw fair”

by

Mitchell described Olympiakos’ draw with PAOK as a fair result and referred to the reason for James Rodriguez’s change.

In detail, what he said at the press conference:

For Paschalakis: “We played a very good first half, PAOK came in better, but then we managed to control the game. We also created some chances, however Paschalakis is a player who always helps us with his saves or in general. It is logical in such a game that we also need a goalkeeper who can stand up to the game.”

On whether he thought not to put Paschalakis on because he played for PAOK and on the referee: “We didn’t think about it, we had decided a long time ago that Paschalakis is our goalkeeper in the league games and that would happen today as well. I haven’t said anything about the referee and I don’t comment on referees unless I have something good to say. I have said it many times, and I say it today, that I would like to have Greek referees in such games. I never, ever complain about referees.”

For Olympiakos’ way of playing: “We’re sorry if some people don’t like the game we’ve played today. The truth is that we always go for the win. In Karaiskakis we played better and ended up losing. Today, although we always go for the win, the plans don’t always work out, because there is an opponent on the other side. We are sorry if we did not convince, however we always play to win. So, the way the game ended, we think it’s a fair result.”

For the Olympiakos derby: “When you play we don’t want it to look like a team is playing alone. We always strive for the best. There are many games ahead and we will see better results than today. Of course we came to win. We remain close to the top positions and will try for something better. I remind you that we started the year with a big disadvantage and now it has not only decreased but we are among the four teams that can win the championship. Surely in the next games we will get something better”.

For Hames: “He complained of some discomfort during half-time in the bicep, we preferred to take Hames out to protect him, we didn’t want to risk losing him.”
