Speaking about tonight’s opponent of the Women’s National Team, the partner of Petros Prekas, Giorgos Tsemberis said characteristically… “Portugal is a very fighting and particularly tough team. Today’s game is crucial for her.
Its main characteristics are the appeal of its players to go hard and manage to get a lot of offensive rebounds. Also the effort, not only to stop the offensive transition of the opposing team, but by using traps to lead them into mistakes that will often lead to easy baskets in the open field. So for us, defensive rebounds and minimizing mistakes is the point.
However, there are other characteristics in Portugal’s game, such as the implementation of big attacks, the achievement of few surprises, the basic mechanics and players who score on offense, the ways they defend on the ball screen and in the low post game, as well as the ability of players in personal defense.
Our own team is much more prepared than the first match and of course we have added new elements to our offensive and defensive game which I must admit that our athletes have assimilated to a great extent.
The atmosphere in the Women’s National Team is excellent, we believe that we are a better team and we have similar enthusiasm for this particular victory which will of course certify our participation in the final phase of EuroBasket”.
In Lisbon, on the side of the Women’s National Team, is also the general director of the EEC, Dinos Sverkounos.
