Sarises Florinas 4-0 Panathinaikos in the A1 women’s derby

by

The competitive events in the A1 national women’s category, at the Stadium of Peace and Friendship, presented today 12/02 lively interest in table tennis, at least as far as the high positions are concerned.

In the ASEA Sarises derby with Panathinaikos AO, who were tied for 2nd place, the team from Florina got the perfect shot and won 4-0.

With the second victory against the same opponent, she took a step to conquer her best position in A1, but at the same time she clears up the formal closure of the title case faster.

And this is because Olympiacos comfortably achieved its 11th victory in as many matches and as it has prevailed in both rounds of Sarsis, it has essentially been crowned the champion of Greece with 3 matches to go.

Among the men, the also undefeated Olympiacos completed its easy mission in Crete and in the last two days of competition (11-12/03) it has the derby against 2nd Panathinaikos, which scored 2 victories on Sunday at SEF. In A2, OEA Thessaloniki increased the absolute in men and GAO Piraeus in women, getting even closer to the title.

EFOEPA had two live broadcasts from the men’s A1 from its YouTube channel

In men’s A1, most of the action was also today at SEF, while two meetings took place in Chania (at EAK), which took over from Rethymno and Saturday’s games.

Olympiacos, which among its foreign athletes, lined up the Portuguese João Monteiro and the Italian Antonino Amato on the island, imposed on Elefsina and with the absolute number of victories remains a big favorite to maintain the championship 3 games before the end. Rethymnon did not show much interest in the matches of this two-day period, they also lost to Chania and of course fell to 4th place. Haya scored their second win, but with a goalless score they do not avoid relegation.

In the SEF, Panathinaikos confirmed the role of favourite, easily with Ifitos Patrons, more difficult with Pera Athens and completing 15 matches, it is now 1 point behind Olympiakos. The big match between them takes place on 11/03. On an individual level, Pandasak Tanviriyavetsakul’s game with Petio Krastef was awesome, where the Bulgarian prevailed 3-2 with the 5th set ending 19-17!

Pera played 2 more games today, one postponed against Panathinaikos and got the 3 points it wanted with new remarkable performances. He overtook Rethymnon and everything shows that he will finish in 3rd place, as in the 21-22 season. The match with Tataula of the common descent was exciting and was decided after 3 hours and 50 minutes! Pera turned the situation around from 2-3 and Tataula lost an opportunity to increase their hopes of avoiding the playoffs for the remainder of the season.

The progress of the match Pera-Tataula 4-3 in detail:

Pandasak Tanviriyavetsakul-Dimitris Papadimitriou 3-1 (11-3, 11-3, 5-11, 11-5)

Stratos Damianis-Yiannis Boskovich 1-3 (10-12, 11-7, 9-11, 5-11)

Louis Reusso-Gerasimos Hatzilygeroudis 1-3 (8-11, 4-11, 11-7, 6-11)

Padasak-Boskovic 3-2 (7-11, 11-8, 12-14, 11-6, 11-3)

Reusso-Papadimitriou 2-3 (12-14, 9-11, 13-11, 11-3, 7-11)

Damianis-Hatzilygeroudis 3-2 (14-12, 8-11, 14-12, 8-11, 11-9)

Pantasak/Damianis-Papadimitriou/Hatzilygeroudis 3-2 (11-9, 11-7, 7-11, 8-11, 11-8)

In March, Ifitos Patrons will make the last effort to avoid relegation, 1 point above it is Elefsina and 2 Tataula.

In the women’s A1, the tied teams, until today, in 2nd place ASEA Sarises and Panathinaikos faced each other. Clearly, the victory of Olympiakos in yesterday’s derby with Sarises had reduced the interest in the points, but 4 great foreign and 2 top Greek athletes were invited to give their all, with a view to at least 2nd place. The Florina team again relied on 3 foreign players and were particularly effective. With Serbian Aneta Masouti as their first player, they reached an impressive 4-0, and had even defeated Panathinaikos in the 1st round.

Thus, Olympiacos, which is going for the new title from safety, can mathematically reach its goal an hour earlier. Today they defeated Aris 2006 with 4-0, they are 2 points away from Sarises, 3 from Panathinaikos and theoretically they are not in danger of losing their achievements.

The evolution of the match Sarises-Panathinaikos 4-0 in detail:

Aneta Masuti-Ana Tofad 3-0 (12-10, 11-8, 11-4)

Bernadette Balid Katerina Toliou 3-0 (11-7, 11-5, 12-10)

Liu Judith-Konstantina Paridis 3-0 (11-2, 11-8, 11-4)

Masouti-Toliou 3-2 (8-11, 13-15, 11-6, 12-10, 11-0)

Ethnikos Alexandroupolis remains without a win and is heading to A2, while AEK, who defeated them today, is now very close to staying.

In the men’s A2 and the 11th matchday, which took place at SEF, the favorites prevailed easily or difficultly. OEA Thessaloniki defeated Faro Alexandroupolis 4-1 without pressure, extended their unbeaten streak and came even closer to the championship. However, in March, the match with the 2nd ranked Aris awaits him. The Nice team, reinforced again with the Czech Michal Obeslo, prevailed 4-1 in the derby with Phoenix Agia Sophia, which is also in the play-off places for promotion.

Details of the progress of the match Aris Nikias-Phoenicas Piraeus 4-1:

Michal Obeslo-Nikos Vlahakis 3-0 (11-3, 11-6, 11-4)

Fotis Arvanitis-Xanthos Panagopoulos 3-0 (11-5, 11-8, 11-7)

Vrettakos-Vlahakis 3-2 (11-9, 7-11, 13-11, 8-11, 11-4)

A 3.5 hour match closed the program and it was that of AO Pefkis against Poseidonas Loutrakiou. The Athenian team prevailed 4-3 against the children of Poseidon and will exhaust their chances of staying in the last two days. In doubles, Alexandros Diakoumakos and Dejan Otsokolic beat Yiannis Koutras/Yiannis Kioseloglou with 3-2 sets.

In the A2 women’s division, the 11th match was held at SEF and at the 6th Lyceum of Kavala. In the Macedonian city, GAO Piraeus increased the streak by beating PKD Tavros very hard with 4-3. It has 2 points difference from the other Taurus team, DAOT, and with 3 games to go, it is now considered an unshakable favorite for the title and direct promotion.

The team from Patras prevailed in the end with 4-3 when Eleni Ambatzi/Magdaleni Iliopoulou defeated Sotiria Nikolaidou/Maria-Argyri Gioti with a 3-1 set in the doubles.
