A statement denying the allegations he made, Mr Vangelis Platellas regarding the alleged threats he received from thugs to terminate his contract, the PAE Ionikos.
The Nice team talks about science fiction scenarios, underlining that his argument is unfounded as the stadium has cameras and he could have asked for the footage to prove his words.
The announcement in detail:
“PAE Ionikos must take a stand and clarify certain things regarding the case of Vangelis Platellas.
The world of Ionikos and the Tsirigotis family respected the said footballer to the utmost from his first moment in the team and embraced him ALSO upon his return to it. The footballer knew our club and the management very well, having won promotion to the first division together with the rest of the boys. We parted amicably in the summer of 2021 and when we made him an offer to return after half a season, he gladly accepted to return to our team. That is why we are surprised by his repeated lies in recent months…
In order to understand that what Vangelis Platellas claims is untrue, we will ask a question: How is it possible that he was pressured and threatened to sign the termination of his contract (taking, as he states, 10,000 euros as compensation), when in order to terminate the contract must the footballer be found either at the KEP or at a police station for the authenticity of the signature? Probably, this argument does not stand!
Somewhere here we should mention that our stadium, which meets the conditions for holding top-class matches in Greece, has cameras and closed-circuit surveillance. So, if there were any alleged fouls said by the said footballer (or dictated to him), then he could request the footage from the cameras and present it to corroborate his claims.
Of course, the name of our group cannot be tarnished by anyone, nor can it be stigmatized because of lies. No threats, no big guys, no signatures, nothing. All of this is a well-written script from a science fiction movie, which of course never happened.
Ionikos is a historic club, which during the presence of the Tsirigotis family at its head has not had a single appeal against it. It would be good if the people we treat with respect do the same. Not to be ungrateful and influenced by various people, forgetting those who helped them, when no one else counted them…”
