Antonis Koniaris was born on September 30, 1997 in Chania. He took his first steps in the field of basketball in A.O. Akrotiriou, team of his birthplace and in the Summer of 2011 he went to PAOK. In fact, at the age of 16 years and 12 days, he made his debut in the Basket League against the Colossus.
In July 2014, he signed for five years at Panathinaikos, with which he won two Greek Cups (2015, 2016). In August 2016, he returned to PAOK, having a very good year, as a result of which he won the award for the best young player of the tournament. In his second year with Thessaloniki, he had 6.1 points, 3.1 assists, again became the best new Player of the Basket League and in his last season at PAOK in 26 games he had 4.8 points and 2.8 assists.
On July 1, 2019, it was announced by Olympiakos and on January 16, 2021, he moved on loan to the Spanish Obradiro until the end of the 2020-21 season. In March 2021 he returned to Greece and to Ionikos Nikaia on loan from Olympiakos.
On March 21, he suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right leg, in the match between Ionikos and Larissa, as a result of which he lost the rest of the season.
At the level of National Teams, Koniaris has participations with all the National Teams. In 2013 he celebrated the bronze medal in the Children’s Eurobasket. In 2017, at the European Young Men’s Championship held in Crete, he celebrated winning the gold medal. At the age of 20, he was called up to the Men’s National Team and participated in the Qualifiers of the 2019 World Cup, while he reached one step before the final dozen.
