Record Utah All Star Weekend: 25 non-Americans from 17 different countries will participate!

It is known that in recent years the role of internationals in the NBA has increased dramatically, and now this is reflected in… statistics!

Specifically, in its upcoming three-day period All Star Game in Utah (February 17-19), 25 players born outside America are expected to compete, originating from 25 different countries, two numbers that are a record in the history of the American league!

Initially, the main game will feature Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks, Greece), Luka Doncic (Dallas Mavericks, Slovenia), Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers, Cameroon), Kyrie Irving (Mavericks, Australia), Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets, Serbia) and Lauri Markkanen (Utah Jazz, Finland).

Cy Gilgeous-Alexander (Oklahoma City Thunder, Canada), Domantas Sabonis (Sacramento Kings, Lithuania) and Pascal Siakam (Toronto Raptors, Cameroon) will be on the bench of the All Star Game as the international All-Star reserves.

Buddy Hield (Pacers, Bahamas) and Lauri Markkanen (Utah Jazz, Finland) will participate in the three-point competition, while the three Antetokounmpo brothers will compete as a team in the Skills Challenge!

The “Rising Stars Challenge” is also full of internationals, where Sidi Sissoko (NBA G League Ignite, France) will be present. Josh Giddy (Thunder, Australia), Mojave King (NBA G League Ignite, Australia), Benedict Maturan (Indiana Pacers, Canada), Leonard Miller (NBA G League Ignite, Canada), Andrew Nebhardt (Pacers, Canada), Alperin Sengyun (Houston Rockets, Turkey), Jeremy Sohan (San Antonio Spurs, Poland) and Franz Wagner (Orlando Magic, Germany).

Finally, the “NBA G-League Next Up Game”, which will involve players from the affiliate league, will include Charles Bassey (Austin Spurs, Nigeria), Nimias Keta (Stockton Kings, Portugal), Babacar Sane (NBA G League Ignite, Senegal) and Gui Santos (Santa Cruz Warriors, Brazil).
