Mourning for Giorgos Katsoulis in Greek polo, after the great Greek technician “passed away” on Wednesday at the age of 60 from cancer. An Olympiakos athlete when he was competing, he was the one who made the “red and white” women’s team in 1988, while he worked in Glyfada and Vouliagmeni, with which he won the Len Trophy in 2003.
As a winger in A1, he scored 10 goals, 8 of which with NO Patras (1988-89).
He worked as a partner alongside leading Olympiacos technicians, Boris Popov, Mile Nakic, Nikola Stamenic, while in 1994 at the World Championship in Rome he was on the coaching team of the men’s national team.
With the women’s team of Olympiakos, he was fourth in the championship in 1992 and second in 1994, while he was an assistant to Haris Pavlidis in the 2016-17 season, when the “red and white” played in the final of the Euroleague against Kinev in Kirisisi (6-7).
He led ANOG to two championships (2001, 2002), second place in the F4 Champions Cup in 2001 in Catania and third in Dunaivaros in 2002.
In Vouliagmeni, he was champion in 2003 and second in 2004, while the first season also led him to win the Len Trophy in F4 held in Laimos.
The following year, NOB was fourth in the Champions Cup F4 again at Laimos.
With Ethnikos he was fifth in 2005.
