THE Super League 2 Special Committee met today with the Deputy Minister of Sports, Lefteri Avgenakisas long as, and with the president of Stoiximan Super League 1, Vangelis Marinakis, subject of discussion, of course, the funding from the Bet and the resumption of the championship.
Aris Paltoglou (PAE Aigaleo) Victor Tsiolekas (Athens Kallithea) Dimitris Papadimitriou (Agennisi Karditsa) Alexis Papakonstantinou (Niki Volos) and of course Antonis Rokakis (PAE Chania), who make up the Special Committee of SL2, issued a statement through which they speak for incomplete information from the league management and incorrect decisions.
We should emphasize that at tomorrow’s meeting of the league’s board, all 30 PAEs will be informed about what was said in the meetings with the deputy minister and the president of SL1.
The announcement of the Special Committee of SL2 in detail:
“The Special Committee of Super League 2 had today, Tuesday, February 28, 2023, contacts with the Deputy Minister of Sports, Lefteris Avgenakis and with the president of Super League 1, Vangelis Marinakis, in order to find a solution regarding the immediate restart of the league, the assurance of its credibility and securing the necessary resources for the sustainability and competitiveness of the PAEs.
In the meeting with Mr. Avgenakis, we were informed precisely about the details of the two meetings with the heads of the Leagues on January 23 and 31, regarding the criteria and the distribution of funding from the permanent mechanism to support sports, through the taxation of the profits of gamblers.
The lack of information we had from our administration, which resulted in the wrong decisions we made as a League, was confirmed. It was established that the State is willing to help, as long as what is agreed upon is consistently followed.
The discussion with Mr. Marinakis started in the same context. The intention of Super League 1 is to support all parts of football and its overall upgrade, under conditions of transparency.
Our 30 PAE members will be informed in more detail at tomorrow’s board meeting at 12:30 noon.
