Klopp: ‘I’m not surprised by United’s run so far – How could it not be good?’

by

The Liverpool coach spoke about the big Sunday (5/3, 18:30) derby against Manchester United, Jurgen Klopp.

The German coach emphasized that he respects the good progress of his opponent so far this season, but he is more focused on how his own team will be able to create problems, while he spoke in the best words about Marcus Rashford and added that he is always looking forward for those big derbies!

What the Liverpool coach said in detail:

“Manchester United deserve to be where they are. They got a lot of points and played beautiful football. We are not at that level this year, but we were there in previous years and that is where we want to get back to. I couldn’t care less what United do. I respect what they have achieved. We analyze them and try to find ways to hurt them.”.

On the Ten Haag effect: “I haven’t given it much thought to be honest. If I am surprised by his course so far? Probably not. Look at their roster and tell me, how could they not be good? They don’t have a single player that makes you think ‘What is he doing there?’ They have a lot of experience, quality and the right way of playing. Rashford is in the best form of his life. How could they not be a successful team with the quality they have?’.

For Rashford: “It’s difficult, almost impossible, when you’re Liverpool manager, to feel happy about United’s successes. I’ve been here for 7.5 years and I’ve never caught myself wanting them to win. However, I’m happy for Rashford, last year he wasn’t at his best but this year he’s playing fantastic.”.

“I always look forward to these games. Whenever we face United, it’s a special occasion. In the last three years we have had a run of good results against them, but we know that this year they are much better. But that doesn’t mean anything”.
