The draws for Olympiakos, Sarises in the groups of the Europe Trophy Grand Final table tennis

The draw of the groups for the grand finals of the Europe Trophy 2022-2023 table tennis had a strong Greek interest, as in the final stage of the third-class European club competition, Olympiacos participates in the men’s division and Sarises Florinas in the women’s division. There will be eight entries for both men and women and the teams have been divided into two groups of four.

The matches take place on the weekend of 18 and 19/03. Olympiacos, which will organize the Grand Final in the SEF federal hall, has opponents in the first group the Polish KS Gobal Pharma Orlicz 1924 Suchedniow, the DT Hostert/Folschette from Luxembourg and the Croatian STK Libertas Marinkolor.

The Sarisses, who will compete in Mirandela, Portugal, have been drawn in the second group with rivals France’s TT Joue les Tours, Norway’s B-52 and Portugal’s Sebastianense.

The top two teams from the same number of groups advance to the semi-finals and the “knock-out” phase.

In the men’s Europe Trophy, Olympiacos is the first favorite and that is why it has been placed at the head of the group. In the first phase, last November in Serbia, the Piraeus team had won the trophy in Region C undefeated.

Sarises Florina are participating for the fourth year in Europe and qualified for the grand final of the Europe Trophy after qualifying in November 2022 in Slovakia, when they finished second in the women’s Region C. They were drawn from the third round of seeding, but they can of course claim qualification to the top four and then the best in the knockouts.
