Huge away win for Bochum against Leipzig, Schalke saved the point in the 91st minute!

by

Bochum celebrated a great victory in the battle to stay in the Bundesliga, beating Leipzig 1-0 and escaping to +4 from the relegation zone.

In a game that may not have had more time on the ball, but was more effective, Bochum, led by Constantinos Stafylidis and substitute Vassilis Lambropoulos, managed to get the all-important three points thanks to Masovic’s goal in 48′, forcing Leipzig into a second consecutive defeat, after the midweek draw by Manchester City for the “16” of the Champions League.

Another team fighting for their stay, Schalke, saved in 90’+1′ the point of the tie at the home of Augsburg, reaching 21 points and leaving Stuttgart at the bottom of the standings. Meyer opened the scoring for the Bavarians in the 51st minute, but two minutes later Demirovic was sent off with a straight red card, and in the 91st minute Boulter equalized with a fine penalty.

Stuttgart, who are now at the bottom of the table, were defeated 1-0 at home by Wolfsburg, with Mavropanos again playing as a starter in the center of their defense. In a game that had chances for goals, the Greek stopper’s team failed to take advantage of the conditions it created, allowing the “wolves” to take the victory with Marmos’ goal in the 58th minute, and move closer to -2 of the European seats.

More in a while…
