Panathinaikos against EEC and ESAKE: “On Sunday you showed your intentions, we are not relegated”

A man who at the beginning of last September was “blackened” by nine groups signing a document with the attached content as a motion of censure and then asked to resign himself, in order not to be impeached by the motion of censure and the disapproval of the groups themselves.

A disapproval that stems from the events themselves:

-The Basket League Championship is reaching its final stretch and a central sponsor has not yet been found.

Sponsorships were dramatically reduced leaving only Watt&Volt and Hydrogeo Asphalistika, which was kept in honor of the late Giorgos Kondylis.

-The position of president ensures a hefty salary of 4,500 euros plus countless expenses, but Mr. Galatsopoulos works part time and appears in Athens once every twenty days and if this is combined with his other professional obligations.

-The budget for the All Star Game (held on the day of the World Cup final with 5,200 euros in revenue from tickets) was submitted three days before its holding and related to an event that took place in December with a thousand and two behind-the-scenes arrangements with “booths”, “sponsorships”, etc.

– This man “sold out” the naming in last year’s Super Cup for a paltry and unsecured amount.

-Split the money from the TV contract by giving a paper with amounts to the teams without relying on any criteria or calculation algorithm based on viewership, commerciality or last year’s league standings.

-He filed a problematic licensing regulation, leading to an internal rift between the groups in ESAKE and an uncontrollable ruffianism – vote hunting.

– He did not implement the decision of the Board of Directors for a meeting of the delegation of the teams with the Deputy Minister of Sports, so that they could jointly claim the bet money for the European competitions that they were demonstrably entitled to. He single-handedly undertook the final stage of the negotiation, resulting in all teams competing in Europe receiving less money in both applications of the measure.

-Sent the financial and competitive report of the term of office of the ESAKE Bureau 24 hours before the Board of Directors in which the date of the elections was announced and which was convened two days before its holding.

– So what happened and suddenly the teams changed their minds? Is it true that they received pressure and threats from “executives” who appear as executive bodies?

-Really, who is this Mr. Mavraganis that so many group representatives mention?

-Also, the joint EEC-ESAKE pre-election campaign did “bear” fruit, based on the “good” of basketball.

Let’s not forget that this EEC proved again on Sunday its intentions against Panathinaikos. This EEC whose president, Evangelos Liolios, had asked to take responsibility for bad refereeing that spoils the matches. Just as the result was altered, by general admission and admission, in Sunday’s (19/3) match against Olympiakos and just as it was in the first round at the Peace and Friendship Stadium.

By the way, the president of KED Stelios Koukoulekidis, who as another Houdini “disappears” referees from the nominations-lotteries, hastened to congratulate the refereeing trio after the end of the match and when all of Greece saw their deeds. It seems that both he and the general commander of the KED, Nikos Pitsilkas, are completely satisfied with the performance of the referees who judge results.

Despite the above data, Panathinaikos, as the largest Association in Greece and guardian of Greek basketball, is not going to follow paths of polarization and dissolution. He NEVER chose the easy way. We are here AND WE WILL STAY, so that we can help with all our strength for the good of the sport.

Something we have been serving and proving with works and actions for decades. We will do what we have to do to re-create a group within the four lines that no one can “touch”. We are neither leaving, nor relegating, nor … resigning.

Let’s hope that the basketball bodies also aim to create better conditions for the teams with meaningful solutions and projects. The board of ESAKE should operate with the sole aim of the interest of the groups, because until today the only thing that worked perfectly were the lavish buffets at the meetings. I hope that Mr. Galatsopoulos will be able to correct the image of professional basketball together with his colleagues by turning the page on the way it operates. If he succeeds, we’ll be the first to give him credit.

As for those who allegedly caved to the “threats” and did a 180-degree turn by revoking their signatures? Everyone makes their choices based on their values ​​and priorities.
