by

He checked in Syros and wore a European suit Kifissia! The team of Dimitris Christofidelis, with an imposing appearance, prevailed 3-0 set of Phoenix, made it 2-1 in the series securing the 5th place of the Volley League and got the last ticket for the next season’s European competitions!

Shocking the variation of the match which throughout its duration had the character of a derby with the three sets being judged in overtime.

The match

The first set it was a real thriller, with both teams constantly taking the lead. The home side, Phoenix, was the one that entered the match stronger, securing a four point difference which looked like a safety (9-5). The visitors hit back with his block and managed to level at 10-10 but a poor reception by Gladstone and an ace by Mihailovic they brought his team again Aleksandar Senisic in the driver’s seat, with 14-12. However, the formidable Kifisia, with an impressive 9-0 run, managed to take a 19-21 lead by “freezing” the home team. Despite the small demarcation of the “pirates”, the set ended in the team of the northern suburbs with 26-28.

A similar scenario in the second set with Foinikas being in front of the score at the beginning and Kifisia reacting immediately by equalizing at 11-11. The lead kept changing with the home side having an excellent day from Dimitris Djuric. Okosanovic and Gladstone arrived to help Kifissia turn the score around to make it 23-24, with Aleksandar Senisic calling a timeout. Upon their return to the taraflex, the score was tied, but the mastery of Stivachtis and the two consecutive points of Okosanovic gave a huge lead to Kifissia who made it 0-2 at 26-28.

The team of Kostas Christofidelis entered the third set fiercely, taking a 5-1 lead. The coach of the home team called a time-out, but the visitors were again leading by three (8-11). From that point onwards, Kifissia led by Gladstone and Okosanovic led 16-20, embracing the victory. However, the hosts showed character and with an impressive run overturned the score to 22-20. The guests did not hesitate and after taking the set to overtime, they managed to win the match with Maikon’s block on Roumeliotakis, making it 24-26 for 0-3 in the set.
