The announcement of Gate 13 in detail:
«Clarification on the same management rights.
In relation to some unfounded publications about the rights of the Association on the Avenue and their transfer to the Botanical Garden, we would like to explain to the world with specific examples – and not with communication fireworks – the following:
1. For decades, for every sporting, but also non-sporting event that is held at the stadium of the Avenue, the only one who concludes contracts and receives the corresponding price (or any other material consideration), is the Panathinaikos Athletic Club. Only he and no one else.
2. Exactly the same applies to the revenues from any form of commercial utilization / exploitation of spaces in the facilities of the Avenue. The Panathinaikos Athletic Club utilizes the entire stadium of the Avenue and is not limited to a simple “use of the playing field”. Following a bilateral intra-Panathinaikos agreement (without the involvement of any third party), A.O. assigns the use to PAE and at the same time maintains the “first and last word” in the advertisements around the field.
3. Ο Α.Ο. operates any stores located on the outside of the stadium. The same applies to the rooms and canteens in the areas under the stands of the Avenue.
4. Ο Α.Ο. has the right, at any time and with any procedure / conditions he decides, to hold a competition for the naming of the stadium of the Avenue. Of course, only he will receive the price.
5. If and whenever it deems it possible, it also enters into other sub-collaborations-agreements for a price set by it (eg it rents a substation to the PPC).
In order not to tire the world with a lot of examples, the essence is that: for decades at its stadium on the Avenue, the Panathinaikos Athletic Club concludes any agreements it wants (if it deems to be in its interest), without involving – NEVER and nowhere – any third part. Neither the municipality nor the state nor anyone.
In terms of time, in Leoforos this reality is valid indefinitely, that is, as long as the Panathinaikos Athletic Club will continue to exist as a club. To put it another way: all this applies to the Avenue without any time limit. Neither 49 years nor 99 years.
As far as we know so far, unfortunately none of this is going to apply to the new facilities.
We will mention the most typical example that has already been voted / imprinted in a law of the Greek state just six months ago (in June 2021). It is Law 4809 which in Article 45, paragraph 6 provides that:
“Revenues from all forms of commercial operations of the football field are distributed between the Greek State and the Municipality of Athens by sixty-five percent (65%) and thirty-five percent (35%) respectively.” Therefore, A.O. will not receive a single euro of this revenue.
Equally important – in terms of where the revenue to the Botanical Garden will be “directed” from the operation of the football stadium – is that the Municipality of Athens avoids answering the following key question which has three aspects: first, how many loans it has received for land purchases at the Botanical Garden ; second, is it still owed to the banks part of these loans? and third, if he is still in debt, how many millions of euros does he owe?
In any case, we emphasize again that we do not want anything more than the SELF-IMPORTANT rights that the Association has had for decades at its stadium on the Avenue.
ΥΓ. Because we are not willing to enter into a process of confrontation with any journalist who serves specific interests, we warn the media. to stop the misinformation tactic aimed at the unconditional transfer to the Botanical Garden.
ΥΓ2. Our position is non-negotiable and verbal assurances are not enough for us. We want to see them recorded in WRITING by the competent bodies.
