Verstappen on his exit: “I did Melbourne a favor, I cut the grass a bit”

by

After his triumph in the episodic Formula 1 Grand Prix in Australia, Max Verstappen had an appetite for humour in his statements, after jokingly saying that “I cut the grass a little.”

“I had a very bad start. In the first round I had to be careful, I had a lot to lose. The pace of our car was always great, it was obvious. I waited for DRS to have a chance to pass. I don’t know what happened to the red flags. You may be able to remove the first one, but I don’t understand what happened to the second one. It was a chaotic match. I survived, had a good pace and won. This is the most important thing. My first win here. I am very happy. It’s been a while for the team since the last win.” was his initial commentary on the match.

“For my part, I tried to avoid contact. In the regulations it is clear what you are allowed to do when you are from the outside. Clearly, the regulations weren’t followed, but that’s okay. We had a good pace and passed them. It’s something I’ll keep in mind for the next race.”, he said of the battle with Hamilton at the start.

Finally, for his mistake that led him to a small exitemphasized that, “I did the town a favor, I cut the grass a little, they don’t have to. I locked my wheel and went out a bit.”
