From “Polychryses Mycenae”, the kingdom of the mythical Agamemnon and the richest palatial center of the Late Bronze Age in Greece, the 2nd stage of the PPC Cycling Tour of Greece will start, tracing a diagonal course (from NW to SE), which will be completed in Myxo of the Messinian Gulf and the beach of Kalamata.
The group of athletes will pass through the “strong walled Tiryns”, residence of “Heracles” during his labors and after passing through the historic city of Nafplion, the first capital of the Greek state, with Bourtzi, Akronafplia and Palamidi , will arrive at 1st straight sprintin Argolida Mills (34.5km).
From there, the natural terrain changes and the peloton passes by the southern slopes of Mount Artemisio, heading towards the mountain village of Achladokampos, at an altitude of 480m, where the race will take place. 1st climb sprint.
Tripoli, the capital of the Prefecture of Arcadia, will welcome it 2nd straight sprint at 79.9 km and then, at 105.6 km at Vigles, we will have the 2nd climb sprint.
From there the cyclists will reach the Megalopolis, one of the most important PPC energy centers in Greece! There, Vassilis Anastopoulos, 20 years ago, in 2003, became the first Greek cyclist to win the blue jersey of the modern Tour of Greece, knowing the apotheosis of his fellow citizens.
The climbs of the 3rd stage are completed with the 3rd climb sprint at 129.5 km, in the mountain village of Paradisia, 520 meters above sea level. From there the cyclists will cross the fertile valley of the Pamisos River and descend towards the finish at the beach of Kalamata.
