Andraz Sporar returned to the goals and gave the victory in Panathinaikos over Aris. The Slovenian spoke about the team and personal success, the change in psychology, but also the continuation.
What the Slovenian said in detail:
On the justification for the missed penalty against Volos and the missed opportunity before scoring against Aris: “Yes it’s true. I feel somehow vindicated. But that’s how it is in football, one moment you’re a hero and the next I don’t want to say what you are… (laughter). As I did with Olympiacos and AEK when I scored the penalties, so I decided to execute it with Volos, but unfortunately I missed it and felt very bad. I didn’t sleep that night. I thought about it all the time. I felt the weight of my responsibility. I really tried to forget it and with Aris football rewarded me”.
On the help he had from the team to overcome the unfortunate moment of the missed penalty: “Of course, everyone in the team was by my side at that moment and afterwards, which I appreciated beyond imagination. Everyone can miss a penalty. World class players we have seen it happen. Somehow I missed it too. I took responsibility for my action and next time, rest assured that I will not fail. I have huge confidence in myself and this is something that comes from and is also related to the team.”
For the upcoming derby against Olympiakos and if he would like to score again: “I hope yes. I would like it for myself, but also for our people, who will be there to support us, as they do in all the matches.”
