At a time when the EPO is expected to approach Achillea Beo again to accept the holding of the final of the Cup in Volos, the mayor of the city in his statements today clarifies the conditions under which he will accept the big game of the institution to take place at the Panthessaliko Stadium.
“We must all understand that football matches are a celebration. The EPO does not have the first say in this part as much as the teams. I made a proposal. First of all, it is a shame that Cyprus does not accept a holiday. Imagine how scared people are,” were the words of Achillea Beu on public television and he continued:
“I made it clear that I will not accept them making incidents and breaking my city. That is, to make a death appointment for the brainless of the two groups. Not everyone is a sports fan, there is a portion of die-hards who like violence and extreme situations. Volos is a welcoming city that welcomes citizens from all over the world and all of Greece in order to have fun”, he says and then discloses the conditions he sets for giving his consent…
“Therefore, I had made a proposal. Let 5,000 to 10,000 children from the schools enter to enjoy a celebration, without getting involved in violent situations. And from there on, each team with statuses, full name, AMKA and on their own responsibility to get up to 1,000 tickets, but at great cost. That is, each ticket costs 70, 80 or 100 euros.
Under these circumstances, I also had a discussion with the Police Director because I am interested in my city. I will enjoy it as a neutral observer. Only with these conditions that I mentioned will I accept that the final will take place in Volos. Shortly before we went on the air, Mr. Baltakos called me and we made an appointment in three hours to see under what conditions we can ensure from our side the smooth running of the final, without problems in the beautiful city of Volos. And from there on, EPO, AEK and PAOK should assume the responsibilities assigned to them”, he concluded.
