THE PAOK welcomes Sunday afternoon (23/04, 16:00) the Prometheus Patras, in the first game between them for the Basket League playoffs.
Speaking on the team’s website, Tyler Polley, he referred to the upcoming duel with the team of Patras, while standing, both in his first year in the “Northern Doubleheader”, and the fans of the club.
Tyler Polley’s statements in detail:
For the Prometheus game: “I think we will be ready. Both me personally and the team, we have sufficient time to work and prepare for the game, but also for the whole series of games ahead of us. It will certainly be a difficult test, because this is a very good team. They have a good roster, they are strong close and away from the basket, but I think we have the potential to beat them. We will have to work hard, make sure we are ready in every way, physically and mentally.”
On the fact that it’s his first playoff game and if it compares to the NCAA: “I think it’s something very different. In the NCAA when the playoffs begin, you only have one game to win to advance. You lose and you are disqualified and unfortunately while I was there we didn’t have the possibility to go far. Here we need two wins in the first phase, there are more games, longer preparation time, but also from what I imagine the emotions will be different from game to game.”
On how he is experiencing his first season in PAOK and in Europe: “It is a great experience. To be honest I was a bit scared when I came because it was my first time in Europe, my first year as a pro, but it’s been a great experience so far. And it is made even more beautiful by the fans and the people in Thessaloniki.”
For PAOK fans: “The support of PAOK fans even on difficult days is impressive. Their messages, the way they have embraced me from the first moment is something that has helped me. And I honestly think that their presence on the field helps us a lot. I believe this can be done on Sunday as well. They give us confidence, they give us a boost in all games. He is our sixth player.”
