Nicolas Cage says he regrets eating live cockroaches in ‘Kiss of the Vampire’

The film “Kiss of the Vampire” was important for the career of actor Nicolas Cage, 59. However, he says he regrets a detail of the film released in 1989: the fact that he ingested live cockroaches.

In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, the American revealed that this fact is something he intends to forget. The scene, which could already be seen in the film’s trailer, was for real. “I’ll never do that again. I’m sorry I did that,” he recalled.

However, it was he himself who defined that the best idea would be to eat the animal. According to the publication, in the original script there was a raw egg. “I saw it as a business decision because when people see the cockroach go into my mouth [elas] really react,” he said.

As if the first recording of the scene wasn’t enough, Cage claims that Robert Bierman, the film’s director, made him eat a second cockroach. “I ate it twice because the director did it as a joke,” he said in the interview.

Last September, Cage and his wife, Riko Shibata, 28, celebrated the arrival of their first baby together, daughter August Francesca Coppola Cage, in Los Angeles, according to People.

“Nicolas and Riko are happy to announce the birth of their daughter. Mother and daughter are doing well,” a rep for the couple told the publication exclusively. The girl is Riko’s first child and Cage’s third. “My boys are all grown up and I miss going to the toy store. I miss singing lullabies and rocking in the rocking chair,” Cage told People last April.
