Manchester United and David De Gea are set to sign a new contract soonas stated today in his publication ESPN. The Spanish goalkeeper’s contract is coming to an end and the English club are expressing their belief that he will renew the contract, staying at Old Trafford.
Most of the terms have been finalized, although talks are still ongoing as to how the player’s contract will ultimately be shaped. United also have the option to activate a one-year extension option on the existing deal, which runs until May.
David de Gea is one of the key figures in Erik de Haag’s team. The 32-year-old goalkeeper has made more than 500 appearances since joining from Atletico Madrid in 2011. He has won United’s player of the year award four times and has won the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League in 12 years in England.
Finally, ESPN reveals that United are continuing to monitor other goalkeepers ahead of the summer transfer window, with Ten Haag prioritizing the signing of a striker.
