THE Ognien Vranies had made history in February 2018, when he had become first AEK defender to score a hat trick – scoring three times in the 4-0 win over Xanthi.
THE jersey which the Bosnian stopper wore in that match ended up after the end of the Union’s former scout, Yannis Papageorgiou, who decided to give it to the museum of the club at the soon-to-be-opened OPAP Arena.
The relevant announcement in detail:
A historical jersey has been added to the collection of the AEK History Museum which will soon be operating in the OPAP ARENA. It is the one worn by Ognien Vranies in the match between AEK and Xanthi at OAKA on February 18, 2018, with a score of 4-0 and the Bosnian defender becoming the first defender in AEK history to score three times in one match! After the match, he gave his shirt to Yiannis Papageorgiou, a former member of AEK’s scouting department. Mr. Papageorgiou in turn donated the specific heirloom to the Museum’s collection.
We are very grateful to the veteran footballers, but also to the friends of AEK for their great desire to offer living heirlooms, and we remind you that the AEK History Museum is entering the final stretch of exhibit collection! Those veterans or sports fans who have items that they want to donate, please contact the e-mail [email protected] in the name of Mr. Gerasimos Gasparinatos and Yiannis Billiou.
