THE season 2024/25 we already know that it will bring huge changes to UEFA club competitions, with Champions, Europa & Conference League to be converted into 36-team leagues which will play eight matches each.
According to Tipsbladet however, the European Federation is also oriented towards other changes, concerning the tickets that the countries where they are located will get between 16th and 33rd in the UEFA rankings – that is, where the Hellas this year.
Until now, the countries in question had the champion in the Champions League qualifiers and 2nd, 3rd and cup winner going to those of the Conference. The only way for a team to play in Europa was to eliminate the champion in a qualifying round or in the groups.
Above, in the countries that had one Europa ticket each, it went to the cup winner or to the 3rd in case the Cup was won by a team from the first duo.
Now, according to the Danes, the countries between 16th and 33rd place will also have a team in the second tier interclub competition, however the cup winner will no longer benefit.
The ticket to Europa will go to the runner-up, regardless of which team wins the Cup. In other words, contrary to what was in force until today, where the cup winner was rewarded with a better ticket.
If the said scenarios are verified, the Stoiximan Super League of the 2023/24 season, will give the champion a ticket for the Champions League qualifiers, the runner-up for those of Europa and the 3rd & 4th or 3rd and cup winner, for those of the Conference.
