Santos reappears and has three more cases of Covid-19 in the squad

by

The Santos squad re-introduced itself this Sunday afternoon (9), at CT Rei Pelé, to start work on the 2022 season and discovered three more players infected by the new coronavirus: Ângelo, Sandry and Luiz Felipe. According to the club, the three will comply with isolation protocols at home.

In addition to them, Marinho, Léo Baptistão and Carlos Sánchez, who had tested positive for the virus before the re-presentation, are already in isolation.

Midfielder Vinícius Zanocelo, another who had been infected days before returning to the club, underwent another test, this time with a negative result, and will be able to return to training with the rest of the group.

“Following strict health protocols and under the supervision of the club’s infectologist, Evaldo Stanislau, all players and members of the coaching staff carried out the Covid-19 tests from inside their cars in a ‘rapid testing drive-thru’ mounted on the CT parking lot, respecting social distancing,” the club said on its official website.

“The whole world is experiencing a new explosion of Covid cases. Therefore, our idea is to create an environment of maximum security and minimum risk. In the morning, the members of the technical committee carried out the antigen tests in the drive- thru. In the afternoon, the athletes went. And only those who tested negative were allowed to enter the CT”, said infectologist Evaldo Stanislau.

Stanislau also stated that most players have already received two doses of the vaccine.

Like Santos, Palmeiras also performed for the year’s work with those infected with the virus. On Wednesday (5), Patrick de Paula, Gustavo Scarpa, Weverton, Breno Lopes and Rafael Navarro tested positive for the coronavirus and were out of the first training sessions. According to the club, all were asymptomatic and were isolated.

Santos’ first official match of the season will be the debut in the Campeonato Paulista, on the 26th, at 19h, against Inter de Limeira, away from home.
