THE EFL (English Football League) is under pressure to investigate because the Liverpool players, found positive in coronavirus before the postponement of its first semifinal Carabao Cup against Arsenal, then found themselves negative, with the Anfield club facing… questions -for the time being- about the scale of the recent outbreak within the club!
In accordance with Athletic, the EFL has received complaints by some of its associations for postponement, after its admission Jürgen Klopp that all but one of the positive tests of the club were “false positivesWhich means that later tests showed that these players they did not actually have a coronavirus and so the game with the “gunners” was wrongly postponed!
As stressed in the report, the clubs want clarity for when exactly did Liverpool discover this information, as if it was before the match with Arsenal, there was a chance the game would take place normally, as planned!
The teams want to investigated the situation, precisely because several of them have requested deferrals this season due to Covid-19 epidemics and most of these requests fell into the void.
The EFL, then, continues reporting, facing appeals from clubs to start research for the incident, which could lead Liverpool to severe punishment, if it is found that the club hid information and did not give a fight without an excuse!
The match of January 6th reprogrammed, after Liverpool mentioned a “rapidly increasing numberCovid-19 in the EFL, which acted in accordance with government instructions, postponing the match and setting it for next Thursday. Klopp said, however, after the Cup match with Shrewsbury that later tests showed that only one player, o Trent Alexander-Arnold, actually had the virus!
According to his sources Athletic, Liverpool underwent at least two rounds of testing before the postponement. The first round, which involved the use of lateral flow device tests (LFD), highlighted a number of positive cases. The second round, which involved the use of polymerase chain reaction assays (PCR) carried out by an independent laboratory, also highlighted a number of positive cases. However, a third round of testing, that was held after the scheduled first race showed that these players were in fact negative. Liverpool did not comment when asked to confirm and explain when the results of the third series of tests were revealed.
The “false positives»LFD results are considered extremely unusual. Therefore, the probability of successive “false positives»Results are considered extremely unlikely.
Again, however, the issue is big and needs… search!
