The Hellenic Olympic Committee announced that withdrew the protective measures for the concession of OAKA to Panathinaikos and explained the reasons for this move.
As indicated in the announcement, Mr Spyros Kapralos took assurances from the government that a solution will be found for housing fencing.
Now, OAKA holds the final decision on granting the closed to KAE Panathinaikos in its hands!
The stadium management will meet at 2 p.m and given that the legal obstacle that the Hellenic Olympic Committeewas overcome, everything shows that the case is entering the final stretch.
Therefore, if it is approved at noon, the two sides (OAKA-Panathinaikos) will proceed to sign the contracts, which will give Panathinaikos the largest indoor stadium in the country for the next 49 years.
In detail, the EOE announcement:
“The Hellenic Olympic Committee proceeded today to withdraw the interim measures by which it requested the postponement of the meeting of the OAKA Board of Directors for the concession of the indoor stadium “Nikos Galis” to Panathinaikos.
The EOE decided to withdraw the insurance, after the assurances that the President Spyros Kapralos received from the government, that a solution will be found to the housing issue of Fencing, which is the sport that is most affected by the concession of training facilities.
Mr. Kapralos, together with the members of the EOE Isidoros Kouvelos, Thanasis Vassiliadis and Giorgos Alikakos went to court for the adjudication of the interim measures and after the assurances of the government, decided to withdraw the application, as the EOE has categorically stated, is in favor of granting the indoor stadium to Panathinaikos as long as amateur sports are not “dislodged”.
“I want to thank the government for its intervention. The assurances we received led us to the decision to withdraw the protective measures, as it seems that a solution will be found for fencing as well. I have emphasized many times that the EOE is in favor of using the indoor gym from Panathinaikos, as long as all the sportsmen and women who train every day at OAKA do not find themselves on the street. Once a solution is found for amateur sports, there was no reason to insist on precautionary measures,” said EOE President Spyros Kapralos .
The meeting of the Board of Directors of OAKA is scheduled for 14:00″.
