Partizan’s huge bow to the legendary Real in an epic match!

by

The match

Derby was from… jamball, with the two teams going hand in hand and hitting mainly through the racket, as they were not that effective from the perimeter with Real having a small lead (16-15), until 7 ‘. Lesor then sent Partizan to +3 (16-19), with the match in the final minutes becoming tough with both sides fouling and the Serbs closing the first period in front (22-23).

With Rodriguez’s three-pointer, Real temporarily equalized (25-25) at the beginning of the second quarter, with Pander getting “fire” and sending Partizan to +9 (25-34), at 12′. With the return of Tavares, the “queen” decreased (30-34), but then the center from Cape Verde committed a third personal foul and retired, at 14′. Thus, the next few minutes belonged entirely to the visitors, who, led by Lesor and Pander, closed the first half with individual scores of 9-21 and thus went to the locker room with +16 (39-55).

Pander continued to be just as “hot” in the second half, with Partizan increasing the difference to +17 (41-59), in the 22nd minute. After that, the match took… fire with back-to-back three-pointers from both, with Real reducing somewhat (56-67), with LeDay sending the visitors to +16 (56-72), at 26′. From that point on, the “queen” started its counterattack with forwards Tavares and Rodriguez, dropping the difference to a single digit value (69-76), at the end of the third period.

With the same time, Real entered the fourth quarter and with Rodríguez and Hezonia tied (81-81), in the 33rd minute. Lessor temporarily “unstuck” Partizan, with Yule answering with his own streak and sending the “queen” to +5 (88-83), in the 35th minute. Pander hit a big three-pointer, trying to keep Obradovic’s team at bay, but Yule and Rodriguez made one big shot after another, sending the difference to +9 (97-88), at 38′. Mistakes by the hosts followed, with Exum and LeDay reducing the score to three points (97-94), 47 minutes before the end. Hanga then fouled, with Pander missing a 3-pointer and Hezonia making 1/2 shots to make it 98-94 at 24. In the next attack, Exum missed a three-pointer and thus Real got the victory and qualification to the Final Four!
