We have… white smoke! THE final of the Novibet Greek Cup after many delays, it ends up where it was originally supposed to be held, as foreseen by the announcement of the EPO. The meeting of the EPO Executive Committee decided that AEK and PAOK will claim the title of the institution in Panthessaliko on May 24 at 20:00.
In fact, this time it seems that the decision of the federation is not arbitrary, but is in direct consultation with the person in charge, as there are the relevant letters that light up the green light from both the stadium management committee and the mayor of Volos, Achillea Beo. It is noted that, however, the final it will be done under the conditions that were originally set by the local authorities. That is, without people in the stands and only with a limited number of invitations. Their exact number will be clarified later and the relevant arrangements with the Police.
If for any unforeseeable reason, the final cannot be held there on that date, it will be held in Elbasan, Albania. It is worth noting that the Executive Committee of the EPO wanted to have an alternative solution for the venue of the final, fearing that some people would raise obstacles for it to be held in Panthessalikos.

“As a factor in football that I love and serve for many years, I express my deep sadness at the tragic handling of those in charge regarding the conduct of a top sporting event such as the Cup final, which instead of a celebration and opportunity for promotion and dissemination of the world-loved sport becomes yet another cause of its disrepute, but also of discrediting the institutions.
With the amateurish, in the most lenient expression, manipulations, which the sports-loving public is watching in amazement, we were led to the tragic impasse of not being able to hold the final on a stadium in the Greek Territory!
Given this and after the private discussions with the owners of the two teams in the final, Mr. Melissanidis and Savvidis, whose strong concerns I understand, I have decided to withdraw my decision not to grant the Panthessaliko Stadium for the holding of the final of the Greek Cup.
My wish and desire remain as at some point in this country that the self-evident are observed and that the fans of the respective finalists co-exist in the stands supporting their teams and enjoying football and in this direction we all have the obligation to contribute. Until then, the solution is to hold double matches».
