Vasilije Micic: The… executioner of Olympiakos in Belgrade who “sealed” the dynasty of Efes

Throughout time, since its “birth”. Euroleague to date, there have been quite a few “dynasties” in the European continent. Teams that left an era and wrote their name in “golden” letters in the history of the event.

A dominance of the Turkish team that ended this season, thus going down in the history of the competition, as one of the most talented and best teams of all time!

The beginning of the end for Ephesus came in May 2022 at Final 4 of Belgradewhere he ended the season in the best possible way, winning the EuroLeague for the second consecutive season, with the prestigious trophy bearing his signature… Vassili Mičić!

From Zalgiris to Efes and the top of Europe


The Serbian guard moved from Zalgiris to Efes and Istanbul in July 2018to be followed a month later by his later alter-ego in the group, Shane Larkin. In their first year and under the guidance of Ergin Ataman, the two explosive guards led the club to its first Final 4 appearance since 18 whole yearsbending in the Vitoria final from CSKA Moscow.

In the 2020-21 season, Efes looked capable and determined to go all the way, playing their best basketball and leading the regular season after 28 games, until the coronavirus pandemic and put on the… bench of the organization.

In the end, what fate took away from her, Efes got back and even more so in the very next season, reaching for the first time in its history the Promised Land and the top of European basketball! THE Vasilij Micicwho had a dream season and rose to prominence Euroleague MVP (16.1p., 5as., 2.6r.), “exploded” in the Final 4 in Cologne, leading his team with 25 points and six assists in the victory over CSKA Moscow (89-86) in the semi-final, completing the “work” in the final against Barcelona (86-81) with new “25”also winning his title Final 4 MVP.

And we come to last season, where the “sirens” from the other side of the Atlantic and the NBA for Micic there were many. However, he preferred to stay in Europe, signing a new contract with Efes. The Turks that year showed many ups and downs in their performance finishing in 6th place in the regular season. In the playoffs, the 29-year-old explosive guard… dressed as a hero for his team, sending them to the Final 4 in Belgrade after meeting and qualifying against Armani Milan (3-1).

In the “Stark Arena”, packed with thousands of Olympiakos fans, the Micic he was about to write another great moment in the history of the Euroleague Final 4. In the semi-final with the “red and white”, the Serb ta… he had broken with 4/15 shots throughout the match, thus putting more weight on the creative part (15p., 9 ass.). Nevertheless, he showed his class in the final and with the score in absolute balance (74-74), he took a difficult three-pointer – with Vezenkov “hanging” on him – from the top in dead time, putting an improbable buzzer-beater three-pointer.

With speed gained from the semi-final, Micic took phis… backs to Ephesus and in the final against Real Madrid and with the 23 points he scored, he gave his team the cup (58-57), while winning his second Final 4 MVP award!
