Manu Garcia: “I’m working hard to be able to play in October”

by

THE Manu Garcia spoke to the Spanish AS and mentioned among other things his return to competitive action.

In addition, the Aris midfielder also spoke about his move from Manchester City.

His statements in detail:

“Recovery is going slowly. I was injured on January 25th and it affected my sacrum, meniscus and part of my inner side. On the 7th of February I had surgery and I’m halfway there, I’m working hard to be able to play in October.”

For his presence in Manchester City: “I was satisfied at Gijon, but England caught my attention from a young age. If I had stayed in Spain, it was clear to me that I would have continued at Sporting, but I decided to go to Manchester City, because they showed a lot of interest in me and I wanted to play there.”

What was your first contact with the first team? “At age 17, I trained with them and then went on a season finale tour in Houston, Toronto and New York. It was an incredible experience. It was the penultimate year of Manuel Pellegrini. After the summer I was also in preparation with them on a tour in Australia”.

Do you remember who impressed you the most during the first training sessions with them? “I was shocked, surrounded by stars, but the one I found most impressive was David Silva. Yaya Toure was too, but I looked up to Silva because he did things that are really difficult with ease. I looked after him a lot.”

Of the players in the current squad, which player has developed more than you expected when you were with them? “Just from the first moment you see they’re all great: Walker, De Bruyne, Guidogan, … but if there’s anyone I’m happy for, it’s Phil Foden. I was with him in the club’s Academy and he was a very good kid with huge quality. I’ve watched him grow up, we’ve trained together many times and being from Manchester, what he’s living must be a dream for him.”

Did you also meet Rodri, do you think he is one of the best midfielders in the world? “Absolutely. He was already one of the best when he arrived. I only did one training session with him, coached by Guardiola, because I left later, but his level was spectacular and now even more so. He has a great position and grows with every game. When I was there everyone said his signing was a big success and it showed.”
