The second term on the Juventus bench is not going well for Massimo Allegri who has been without a title since 2021 when he took over the team’s bench again.
Apart from the distinctions that did not come at the European level, “Juve” has not won the Italian championship for the third season in a row. Last year it went to Inter Milan, last year to Milan and this year to Napoli. Allegri thus equaled a 35-year-old record with the last manager to go without a title for two consecutive seasons being Rico Marchesi in the 1986-1988 season.
Indeed, with Allegri likely to remain on the old lady’s bench next season, we should look back to the distant 1935 when Virginio Rosetta went without a title for two consecutive seasons, remained on the bench for the “veccia signora” and won the Coppa Italia in 1937-38 season.
However, Allegri in his first term was highly successful with five championships in five seasons, four Cups, two Super Cups and two failed attempts at Champions League finals.
Prima di Massimiliano Allegri 2021-2023, un allenatore della #Juventus non rimaneva senza trofei per two anni di fila dai tempi di Rino Marchesi (1986-88).
