Federation for Pilidis: “He will be called for explanations, we know nothing about an attempt to manipulate a match”

The Hellenic Wrestling Federation after his statement George Pilidis in the Survivor on attempted match-fixing issued the following statement:

«The Hellenic Wrestling Federation explicitly states that never she had noticed the attempt to manipulate the matches of her athletes, while neither George Pilidis, nor any other athlete-tria of our federation, has ever officially or unofficially mentioned anything related. ELOP, in the most categorical way, unequivocally condemns any action of manipulation of games, while it is fully supported by the Ministry of Sports, the GGA, the EOE and all bodies, which aim at pure sports at all levels.

Given that George Pilidis is outside Greece and his statement was made in a video game, there is no possibility to communicate with the athlete. The Hellenic Wrestling Federation will wait for her to return and through her institutions to invite him to give explanations in order to clarify the case and will move competently so that no shadow is left in the sport of Wrestling.

We call and encourage all the athletes -three and all the members of our Federation, at all levels, at any time that an incident of match-fixing comes to their notice, to report it to the federation and work together to combat such phenomena.

Finally, the Hellenic Federation will inform officially the World and European Wrestling Federation, where the reported fights were conducted under their supervision, in order to carry out their own research on such reprehensible phenomena “.
