Lescott: “The AEK fans had come to the hotel and were singing – Nice experience Greece”

About his experience in Greece and AEK, he spoke Joleon Lescott.

With his statements to the English website “Daily Star”, the veteran defender recounted, among other things, a incident with “Union” fans, who went under the team’s hotel and sang, while they had created a beautiful atmosphere by lighting smoke bombs.

His statements in detail:

“A lot of things I answered were happening or just things that were unusual for me. I remember in a derby we played against Olympiakos, and the fans came to the hotel where we were staying and arrived at the reception. Then the manager came and knocked on my door and said “we’re going down, the fans are here”.

When I say fans I don’t mean a couple of those who came to get autographs, but organized with smoke detectors in the hotel reception. I had a routine before the games, just do what I needed to do. Relaxation, ice therapy, recovery. I was like, ‘Yeah? Baa, I won’t come” and cheated on me ”I’m not asking you. We’re going down”.

So we went down and the situation got out of hand. They were singing and shouting slogans to show us how important the match was to them. We ended up losing the game (3-0) and then we had a couple of days off so I went home. My car was in the parking lot and we went back there and they were waiting for us. All the organized ones were waiting there.

But as we got off the bus, I could go the other way to get my car and leave for the airport. So, I didn’t see what happened there. It was a nice new experience I can say.

But in the end the players and the staff were good. The majority of them were great, at least the ones I worked with, but a different, very different experience.”
