On the eve of another key unit, the Apollon Smyrna polo team announced, with Stefanos Galanopoulos signing for another year. The 30-year-old goalkeeper played an important role in winning the Challenger Cup and finishing third in the A1 championship and has agreed to stay for a third year with the “amphibious brigade”.
“I would like to thank the management and the coaches for the trust they show in me for the new year. We keep last year with the wonderful moments we experienced as a reserve for the coming season. We will preserve elements that have grown us as a team, as they will be important to us for whatever new goals are set. I am happy to be at Apollo. Me and my teammates will fight with all our strength for the new year“, said the tall (1.97m) goalkeeper, who has another European title in his personal palmare (the 2018 Champions League with Olympiakos), but also a bronze medal with the national team at the 2015 World Championship.
Galanopoulos is the third player to renew his partnership with Apollon Smyrnis, after the league’s top scorer Nikola Bogdanovic and international striker and team captain Manolis Solanakis. It is recalled that the “amphibious brigade” has also announced the stay of Nikos Deligiannis in the technical leadership.
