(News Bulletin 247) – Claudio Descalzi, Managing Director of Eni, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sonangol Sebastião Pai Querido Gaspar Martins signed a memorandum of understanding yesterday in Rome to cooperate and develop studies on decarbonization, energy transition and the innovation ecosystem.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Angolan President João Lourenço and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, as part of President Lourenço’s state visit to Italy.

Eni and Sonangol will jointly identify and assess opportunities in the areas of energy transition, including agro-industrial supply chains for the production of low-carbon fuels, the valorization of residual biomass and green ammonia for agro-industrial applications

In addition, companies will assess agribusiness opportunities, with studies to promote synergies between national agricultural, food and bioenergy value chains.

Other areas of cooperation could include energy transition minerals, such as those used in the production of batteries and renewable energy.
