Olympiacos was deified, wiped out PAOK and easily qualified for the finals of the Basket League!

Olympiacos swept PAOK and easily qualified for the finals of this year’s Basket League!

The “red and white” faced difficulties only in the first half of Game 3 of the semi-final series with Thessaloniki, they prevailed 75-54 and they qualified for the finals, where they will face whoever passes the pair of Panathinaikos and Peristeri bwin.

Around 7,000 Olympiakos fans flocked to SEF to watch their team’s first home game since losing in the EuroLeague Final 4, seeing Giorgos Bartzokas’ players dominate their opponents and stay for nine months invincible in their domestic obligations!

For the winners, they stood out Vezenkov (19p.) and Sloukas (17 points, 4/5 three-pointers, 8 assists), while for the guests a double-digit number of points were achieved by Seibert (14p.) and Hunts (11 p.).

The match

Giorgos Bartzokas, who did not have Black and Kanan available, lined up his team with Walkap, Luntzis, Papanikolaou, Vezenkov and Fal, while Fotis Takianos did not count on Margaritis, lining up PAOK with Riley, Franke, Slaftsakis, Saloustro and Renfro . The match started with Olympic to take an 8-3 lead on triples by Walkup and Papanikolaou, before Franke responded to make it 8-6. Vezenkov scored his first points of the match with a basket and foul for 15-8, while Sloukas with a three-pointer he gave his team its first double-digit lead (18-8), while the first period ended with a double score (24-12) and with Olympiakos having 9 (!) assists.

With consecutive points by Sluka, the “red and white” took the lead 30-17, but at that point in the match they made consecutive mistakes with bad passes in their attack and PAOK took advantage of it with a 10-0 run, thanks to which they reduced it to 32-27! THE Sloukas reached 10 with a very difficult buzzer beater three-pointer, for 35-27, while the second quarter ended with Riley to put his own three-pointer at the end of the time, for the 39-34.

THE Olympic came in focused at the start of the third period, getting back to +10 (44-34) with a 3-pointer by Walkup and a difficult basket by Vezenkov. THE PAOK he stayed for 4 minutes without scoring a point and with a 9-0 run the “red and white” escaped with 48-34. The Thessalonikians countered with consecutive 3-pointers by Hunts and a foul basket by Seibert for 48-43, but the Piraeus improved their defense with a buzzer-beater 3-pointer by Sloukas at the end of the third quarter (in which they prevailed by a partial score of 22-11 ), made their maximum difference in the match (61-45)!

PAOK tried to make their last counterattack, but Olympiacos did not allow them to dream of an upset, reaching +20 for the first time (69-49) and turning the last 5 minutes of the match into a formality. In the end, the “red and white” prevailed with the imposing 75-54easily qualifying for the finals of the Basket League!
