Seton Hill University in Pennsylvania was chosen by Dimitris Sklavenitis to continue his studies and his basketball career. The 18-year-old point guard (1.93cm), who in 2021 won the Panhellenic youth championship with the Olympiakos academies, decided two years ago to take the big step and cross the Atlantic.
At just 16.5 years old, he joined the HOOSAC Boarding school in New York on a full scholarship, taking part in one of the competitive development leagues from which future NBA players emerge.
At the same time, he chose finance in the shipping industry as the subject of his studies.
In HOOSAC for two years he was the main play maker of the team with M.O. 18 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists, standing out among hundreds of athletes from the USA, Serbia, Turkey, Spain, etc.
During last year, Sklavenitis “fell” in the… antennae of Hall of Famer former coach of the Hellenic National Team and Panathinaikos, Rick Pitino, who had eyes on him in several games through his assistants.

Sklavenitis was named MVP and most improved player of the year last year and received several offers from top US sports schools such as Brewster, New Hampton, etc.

However, he decided to continue at HOOSAC for one more year. As the leader of his team, which strengthened its roster, he and his teammates achieved a high position in the NEPSAC OF NY championship.
He is currently considered one of the best “European projects” and this year he competed in over 100 races.

After Easter, he took part in several tournaments through the “6thborohoops” team in New York, Washington, Virginia, Boston and Pennsylvania attracting the interest of several scouts from D1 teams (American University, NJIT, UMASS UNIVERSITY, SETTON HILL, University of Chicago etc. .a.).
Dimitris Sklavenitis is still available but not for long. D1s are coming in after an impressive showing this weekend at @marqueehoops in DC.

Sklavenitis has been characterized by the coaches as one of the most “unselfish point guards” who constantly “feeds” his teammates with passes.
He himself, having completed high school this year and having several college offers in front of him, decided to choose SETON HILL in the state of Pennsylvania to continue his studies and his career.
A big role in his decision was played by the coach of the university team, who showed him that he believed in his worth.
