by

A new head will be needed Euroleague!

Specifically, the CEO of Euroleague Basketball, Marshall Glickmanhas made the decision to step down from his post after his contract expires on July 31st, just one year after taking up his duties!

It was already known that on Monday (5/6) the shareholders of the organization would hold a meeting to decide whether the Glickman will remain in the position of executive director, which already indicated that the possibility that he would not continue was visible. As far as it appears, however, he made the decision to leave his duties, before the corresponding vote was held among the shareholders. There is, however, the possibility that he will remain as an executive with an advisory role in the Euroleague.

Several shareholder groups (first of all the Spanish ones) were dissatisfied with the work of the American, who despite his long career in sports management (he had also served as president of the Blazers in the NBA) was unable to develop the organization financially. At the same time, he reportedly does not have the best relations with the president of the Euroleague, Dejan Bodiroga, who enjoys the respect of all shareholders.

The Euroleague announcement in detail:

“Euroleague Basketball CEO Marshall Glickman has announced that he will step down as CEO after his contract expires on July 31, 2023. The Euroleague Commercial Assets Board of Directors will reconvene in the next two weeks to discuss the potential future his advisory role and the next steps in finding a new CEO for the organization.”
