Karolina Muhova proved capable of making the surprise of the… century, but Iga Sviontek proved that she is invincible! The formidable Pole prevailed with 2-1 sets (6-2, 5-7, 6-4) and was crowned for the third time in the last four years (and second in a row) “queen” at Roland Garros.
With this title she reached four Grand Slams, leaving the rookie in a major final Muhova without a title.
Sviontek entered the final determined and made it 3-0, with Muhova reaching a break point in the fifth game, but without succeeding. The two players held their serve until 5-2, with Sviontek then ending the set with a love game for 6-2.
In the second set, Muhova dramatically increased her performance. He went in with a formidable 3-0 lead, with Sviontek erasing the break and taking a 4-3 lead. From then on, it was… chaos. Muhova made it 4-4 and with a new break took the lead 5-4. Sviontek erased it for 5-5, but the Czech Republic reached a new break and leveled at 1-1 at 7-5.
Muhova started the third set with a break, which Sviontek took back for 2-2. The match remained on a razor’s edge, with the Czech Republic leading again at 4-3, but Poland went on a terrific run, taking the last three games to make it 2-1 at 6-4.

A front row seat to the moment Iga Swiatek won her 3rd Roland Garros.
She drops her racquet, let’s the tears fall, & touches the red clay with her hands.
That winning feeling never gets old, even for someone who wins as much as Iga. ????
