Ready to fight her battles with the goal of the best possible is the Women’s National Eurobasket (June 15-25)as pointed out by Mariella Fasoula on EOK Web Radio. The main center of the Greek band spoke:
For the very good atmosphere in the Women’s National Team: “I think the atmosphere in a team is everything. A team’s goal when it comes to atmosphere is to bring it out on the field. When you achieve this, success and victories and good times come. When you create such an atmosphere, you want to play well for your teammate, to have success together, because you support each other. In teams that I have played in and the atmosphere was not good, it has been seen in the results and in the competitive image. No team with a bad atmosphere has reached high.”
For being nominated for the Eurobasket individual awards by FIBA: “This team is top for me, I love it and I play harder for it than any other team I’ve played for. It’s the national team, it’s your country. That comes through the team again, I want to go there and all play well together, as we have done in the “windows” and other situations. I care about winning more than anything else, nothing else affects me. I want to go there, play the best I can to help the team and it all comes from my teammates. When we play well together, the only goal is victory.”
For her goals at EuroBasket 2023: “I want us to go there, let our eyes shine, do our best and leave there knowing that we gave it our all, not leave with regrets or thoughts that we didn’t give it our all.” We have had discussions, we are ready. It’s Eurobasket, you play against the best teams and the best players, it’s a terrible competition, very competitive. I know that no one goes there with anxiety, we all go with “hunger” to win, to play well and to show our best”.
On how ready she feels to take critical initiatives in games if needed: “I’m fine with anything. I’m generally very relaxed about them, I won’t stress. I always go with the logic of doing whatever it takes, I consider it just as important, whatever that is. I feel that a player in general should be ready for every opportunity and at Avenida I learned this life lesson. Because I worked on this a lot in my first year in Spain, now it’s much more relaxed, I don’t have any stress or pressure with it. I try to help as much as I can.”
For the reason he remained in Avenida: “I have lived very good moments with Avenida and it has helped me a lot in my development as a player. Only the training we did was a “treasure”, there you improved fully and then you mean playing Euroleague and in the Spanish league. This team has given me a lot. Also, it has a huge fanbase, the people that come are really incredible. It was not difficult to return to the team another year.”
