It was known, it became… official. For withdrawal of Prometheus of Patras from EuroCup and the participation of at Basketball Champions League of FIBA Europe from the new season the reason.
With the Achaeans announcing today (14/06) the relevant development and speaking about the creating a competitive team aiming for successes and distinctions.
The relevant announcement in detail:
“KAE Prometheus Patras informs its fans and all basketball fans that in the 2023-24 season our team will take part in the Basketball Champions League (BCL), organized by FIBA. The Basketball Champions League is not an unfamiliar competition to us, as we competed in it in the 2018-19 season, Prometheus’ European debut. In the following four seasons, we represented our country in the EuroCup in the best possible way. Despite the burdened and very demanding schedule, we managed by mutual consent to have a remarkable image at the competitive and organizational level, as well as a perfect relationship and cooperation with the organizing authority, the Euroleague. After all, this was the reason why we were entrusted with the organization of the Adidas Next Generation Tournament for two consecutive years.
The four years of our cooperation with the Euroleague were very important for our Organization, as we gained rich experiences and created strong bonds and friendships. However, the special conditions created on the European map lead us to modify our basketball philosophy, always aiming to create a competitive team, which will give success and distinctions to its fans. Very soon we will be proud of the new successes of Prometheus Patras, as well as the way in which we will reach them!’
