“Carbon” with this year’s is the plan of the EPO for Greek Cup Novibet of the 2023-24 season. In spite of farce -again this year- with the final and what happened with the venue of the big match between AEK and PAOK, the federation made no changes -even though there was, for example, a proposal at the meeting on Monday (19/06) for a double final, in order to ensure that on the one hand there will be no problem with the venue and on the other hand that the fans will be present and the game will not be played ahead on empty platforms. The said proposal, in particular, was made by the deputy president Panagiotis Dimitriou and the first vice president, Asterios Antoniou.
However, both Makis Gagatsis for his part PAOK as well as Alexis Alexiou from AEK they strongly disagreed with this perspective, arguing that double finals are anachronism and just like that… we continue as we were!
As far as the new competition is concerned, the Cup-winning teams of the EPS will enter the first phase of the Cup (27/8), while the Super League 2 teams will enter the third phase (13/9). From there, the teams of Super League 1, which do not have European obligations, will start their effort in the 5th phase of the competition (7 and 8/10), while AEK, Panathinaikos, Olympiacos, PAOK and Aris they will enter the Cup from the sixth phase (31/10-2/11), from which onwards, i.e. until the semi-finals, the matches will be “double”. As far as the final is concerned, this will again be single and will take place on Saturday May 18, 2024!
