by

Renew him Andrea Belotti the Roma! The “rooster” will continue to compete in his team Jose Mourinho until 2025 and gave an interview on the team’s official website.

The Italian expressed his gratitude to her world Romawhile he declared very happy that he will remain in the Roman family.

His interview in detail:

How much satisfaction is there in extending your contract until 2025?

“I feel great emotion, from the first moment I set foot I understood the importance of this team, these people, this city. It’s something you only realize when you’re 100% in, something so important that it makes me proud. I see this expansion as a stage in a journey that began a year ago.”

Is there anyone you would like to thank in particular?

“Thanks to Thiago Pinto for giving me the opportunity to play in Roma. The staff and the coach who put me in a position to do my best and believed in me, but also my teammates who immediately made me feel like part of the family. I practically reached the limit of the summer market, so my adjustment was difficult. On the contrary, the kindness, the attitude of my teammates, who turned out to be first people and then teammates, allowed me to integrate immediately and in the best possible way. It was really easy.”

Let’s start from the end: the victory over Spezia, the qualification for the Europa League and the whole team tour on the pitch at the Olimpico to welcome a fantastic crowd.

“It was a very important match for us because the win against Spezia allowed us to qualify for the Europa League, a competition that we came close to winning this year and which maybe next year we will try to win. Touring the pitch seemed the least for these fans, for all the love and support they gave us in every game, whether it was in the Coppa Italia, the league or the Europa League. They were always heard in every sold-out at the Olimpico, the away games are always full, even for the final in Budapest, many arrived. This tribute to the fans was a sincere thank you from all of us.”

That crowd that gave you a standing ovation when you left the stadium: what does that mean to you?

“I think the fans have understood the way I see football, how I experience football, how I experience the game. I never play for my party and I think that was appreciated. I can’t help but return all their affection by trying to do more and more, to improve every day in every way.”

It has been a long and tiring season but Roma have shown that they are a united and solid team especially in difficult times.

“Yes, the team answered always present. Even in the most difficult periods of the season we were always solid. It must be said that the strength of this team is precisely the group, I have never had any doubt about it. Any player who gets injured or struggles with any problem has always pulled through to be there. This makes it clear that each of us is willing to sacrifice for Roma.”

Did you feel part of a family?

“Within a team, I believe that in every moment, good or bad, we help each other. I define Roma as a family because since I came here I realized how much this bond is not just about individual players: each of us is connected to the staff, the physios, the managers, the warehouse workers. It’s a big family where everyone is willing to contribute.”

What contribution does the coach make to this team and to you personally?

“The coach is a winner: he makes you understand the importance of a victory and teaches you to always want to win, game by game. And then he has a great gift, he has a strong empathy with the players. When you think you are giving 100%, he is able to give you 130%, he manages to push you beyond his limits, and quite a bit.”

There were moments of frustration, but never of giving up. And next year’s Roma will start again from that spirit.

“There were some moments of disappointment but the team never gave up, even after the final defeat in Budapest we didn’t give up and managed to win the last championship in front of our fans. Resignation will never remain in us.”

In Budapest, a great save from Bono denied you the joy of a goal that could have been decisive. Will the final be a new beginning?

“It would have been a perfect ending, but unfortunately the goalkeeper was good, so good that we didn’t get a single corner. I can only try to imagine what would have happened if that goal had gone in.”

What will you not forget about this first year in Roma?

“There are so many things I will not forget. One of the things I will always remember is the return match with Feyenoord at home. Their fans couldn’t be there and for the first time I saw the whole stadium completely red and yellow. I remember perfectly the moment when the anthem started and then the image of the packed Olimpico. It gave me shivers, chills.”

Can you tell us a place in the city that you are particularly attached to?

“In Rome it’s easy to get attached to different places. There is history everywhere. What fascinates me the most is the Colosseum. This year, I’ve been several times and, each time, I don’t just look at it, I admire it. A “field” from more than 2,000 years ago… simply outstanding.”

Do you have an anecdote you have with the fans or the city?

“Late August last year, it was signing day. I was staying at the hotel. I book a restaurant to celebrate my official arrival I call a taxi. The taxi arrives, there were three of us. I’m sitting back. The taxi driver looks in the mirror, recognizes me and says to the one sitting in front “you get in the back and the rooster gets in the front”.

Want to send a message to Roma fans?

“I want to thank them for all the support they have given us and I am sure they will always give for this shirt. There is nothing we can do but go out on the field with the sole aim of giving them satisfaction, doing our best to bring trophies or joys that will be engraved in us.”
